Status update:
|
~10-5-2013~ I am single. I have been single since 1898. (when I was found)
~10-9-13~ I am in the pizza shop just hanging with the window!
~10-16-13~ Today I'm in the store trying to find a new light bulb.
~10- 31-13~ It's Halloween! I am currently on the "Haunted House" sign.
~11-5-13~ I have not really been found in many chemical equations because I don't react well with others. There are rumors that I might of made a compound with Fluorine......but you'll just have to wait and see. I wish that someday I'll be in lots of chemical equations like Oxygen and Carbon.

Overview:
|
Hey! My name is Neon. I'm a colorless, and odorless. In my gas state I am also tasteless. When I'm under low pressure, I glow a bright red orange color.

I Shine so Bright. Autobiography by Neon |
Activities & Interests:
|
I am used to make neon signs. When a electric current is passed through, neon gas is passed through a tube. Under low pressure I produce a very bright red orange color.
|
I am not apart of any reactions. I haven't made any true compounds with anyone else yet. If I were tor react with someone else I would either have a double
displacement, single displacement, combustion, decomposition, acid based, or synthesis.

Why is neon a noble gas?
neon said
at 2:06 pm on Oct 25, 2013
Neon is a noble gas because it has a full valance electron shell. There are six noble gases total. They are Helium, Aragon, Krypton, Xenon, Radon, and me!We all have 8 valance electrons.

How was neon discovered?

Neon was discovered through the study of liquefied air. It was discovered by Sir William Ramsay and Morris M. Travers. I was discovered shortly after my friend krypton.

Why is neon monatomic?
neon said
at 2:32 pm on Oct 29, 2013
I am monatomic because i don't react with other molecules. Since I have all my valance electrons, i don't have any empty spaces left.

How are you the same as the neon on cloths?
neon said

I am not the same. I just meant my bright colors have inspired this trend.

You said that you produce a pretty orange light, well when I react, i produce a bright red color. Ain't that cool?

I'm right there with you Neon. I'm forever alone too. Having a full valence shell has its downsides. I wish I had more friends.....
