"Come at me, sun!"

Status update:

Oct. 10, 2013- Today I combined with oxygen to make zinc-oxide. Now I am sold in stores across America as sunscreen.

Oct. 10, 2013- If you combine me with carbon you get smithsonite.

Oct. 11, 2013- Today I was sandwiched between two pieces of copper. Now I'm a penny!

Nov. 3, 2013- No longer single, Me and Chlorine have a tight bond. We make Zinc-Chloride.

Nov. 5, 2013- When you take the equation Zn + HCl = ZnCl2 + Hyou must multiply HCl on the first side of the equation by 2 to get a balanced equation. It's like a long math problem;).

Overview:

I am a very malleable metallic element that was the first metal ever to be casted. I am a bluish-pale grey. I am a reactive element that when it is combined with oxygen makes zinc-oxide. This is a common ingredient in sunscreen. I am good for the body and help create approximately 100 enzymes for the body.

Activities & Interests:

I am a very malleable element so I can be made into plates. For this I can protect Iron from being rusted. I oxidize faster than iron so this is why I have this property. I am an essential part for growth in the human body by creating enzymes. I am not toxic.

I am apart of this equation: Zn + HCl ---> ZnCl2 + H2, I made this equation with chlorine. This is a single diceplacement reaction.

It's sad that I am not apart of Fe + C --->FeC13. I'm zinc, I don't react with everything. This is a synthetic reaction.

Places:

Nov 13. 1243- checking in from India; I protected the skin of many hot Indians.

Jan 19. 1703- checking in from ancient burial ruins in Transylvania; looking out for vampires, to bad they are scared of sunlight.

Mar 4. 1746- checking into the chemical equation, Zn + O = ZnO, I make this with oxygen and it is a synthetic reaction.

July 12. 1846- checking in from an old ladies skin. YIKES!

The casing for most batteries is made out of zinc. This plays a role in how the battery works.

I am an unfinished nail. I need to get the tip of me sharpened

I have bonded closely with  oxygen to make a sunny day at the beach fun!

Just combined with oxygen, double selfie!

Protecting iron and other metals one sheet at a time.

I am in the center of the penny. Since copper is so expensive it is much cheaper if they put me in the center.

How were you used in the old days? I heard Greece liked you a lot.

Yes they did. Copper and I make an alloy that helps to make brass. Brass was a major metal at this time because it was cheaper to make and stronger for armor than just copper alone. This was a revolutionary metal at this time in greece because of it's versatility.

Hey Zinc! Did you know that we make zinc chloride together? We should hang out sometime! It would be a lot of fun...if you know what I mean ;) :*

Sure I'd love to.

Chlorine and I have always had a close bond. We are an ionic bond because we complement each other so well. I take something of hers and she takes something of mine and we are both equal in the long run.
