People always fear change. People feared electricity when it was invented, didn't they? People feared coal, they feared gas-powered engines.. There will always be ignorance, and ignorance leads to fear. But with time, people will come to accept their silicon masters.

Status update:

8/12/13- Met up with my old MSU (Metalloid State University) buddies, Arsenic and Germanium.

9/12/13- Today I learned hard work pays off. Been working my electrons off trying to make the iPhone 5s look good, and today was the launch. Thanks to all my metalloid friends and family who supported me along the way.

10/4/13- OMG my suprise birthday was amazing! It's been a long 189 years of service, but it's worth it.

10/29/12- Well well, guess who's getting ready to get in a relationship?! Yes, it's me. I'm so excited!! I was looking through some elements who were alone like me, and I found out that Silicon and me create a compound. It's so very cool!!

11/5/13- So I was just reading an article on balancing chemical equations, and I came across this magnificent way to balance them. I was very intrigued that by adding coefficients to the reactants, you can balance the equation and prove the Law of Conservation of Mass. What a discovery! It was a video by Ms. Rioux, a science teacher. She explained how to balance chemical equations really simply. I am now more educated!!

Overview:

Wazzup my fellow elements! I'm a really fun loving guy, but don't underestimate me, because I'm in a lot of things you wouldn't expect me to be in. Lets get down the basics, I'm made of 14 protons, 14 neutrons, and 14 electrons. I'm a metalloid, because I contain characteristics that metals and nonmetals have. I'm in period 3, Row 14. I am dark gray with a tint of blue, and you can find me just about anywhere. I'm in the sun, I'm in the stars, and I'm in the computer you are using right now. Funny right, nope. I'm everywhere.

Information:

Relationship Status:

In a covalent bond with Plutonium right now. Going great so far!

Primary Relationship:

Plutonium

network:

Metalloid

valence electrons:

4

reactivity: I'm not too reactive, just with oxygen and a few other elements.
state of matter:  solid
Location on Periodic Table: If you want to find me, just look me up at Group 14, Period 4.

Birthday:

I'm an old man, born back in 1824.

Hometown:

I was born in Sweden, and I'm proud of my roots to famous scientist Jons Jacob.

Movies:

You better maintain your space around me, because I was in "The Matrix" and "Star Trek"

Activities & Interests:

Since I'm one of the only conductive metalloids, I am found at many places. I like to be in computers becauee my conductivity helps computers run. I am the second most common element found in Earth's crust after oxygen. I also like to be helpful so I am in the Sun and stars and help provide heat to all you other peeps.

So some elements come up to me and ask me, what type of reactions do you put yourself in? Well, I have just the answer for you. I like synthesis

and decomposition reactions, because I like to involve myself with other elements to create something new! Unique, you might call it! It's a wonderful

experience working with these other elements to create compounds that everybody else needs. I don't like Single Replacement and Double Replacement

reactions because I don't like being replaced or replacing anybody else. I mean, come on people, everybody is theirselves. There is no use replacing

them or taking them out. That's excluding. So I usually involve myself in Synthesis Reactions to create Silicon Dioxide and quartz and other fun stuff .

Places:

1824- @Earth's crust- Yay its my birthday and I already have a beautiful home, the Earth's crust

11/4/1984- Round Rock, Texas- @Dell HQ; Having fun with Michael Dell at the launch of Dell computers

9/12/13- San Cupertino, California- @Apple HQ; Enjoying Launch of my newest involvement, iPhone 5S

11/5/13- Earth's crust- Well, I just found myself in yet another chemical equation. Si + O2 →SiO2

Yup yup yup that's me in that picture! Of course you won't see me on the outside. I'm always the man that gets things done. I work on the inside to help your iPhone get running. Now, I don't do it alone. Thanks, @Yttrium, @Lanthanum, @Cerium, @Neodymium, @Europium

Here I am again. Must be the popularity that I have. I'm the second most common element found in the Earth's crust. That's right, you're standing on me. Better respect me. I'm along with my buds @Aluminum, @Oxygen, @Iron, @Calcium, @Sodium, @Potassium, @Magnesium

God, am I useful or what? I'm in the Earth, I'm in your phone, and now I'm in the sun. Working with @Hydrogen, @Helium, @Carbon, @Nitrogen, @Oxygen

Everyone seems to be talking about solar energy these days. Don't get suprised, but I'm in it agian. All my endeavors into all these products make me tired. But I still do it to benefit society. That's why many critics call me the most common element found. But again, I'm not alone. @Gallium, @Arsenic, @Boron

This is one is the shocker of the day. I'm in your skeleton. You just have to accept the facts, I'm everywhere, and you can's stop me. Of course, my socialistic views are that I should always be with another element (I'm just kidding I can not be found alone on Earth), so I'm with @Calcium on this one.

Why did they name a valley in California after me?

silicon said

at 2:26 pm on Oct 25, 2013

Because silicon is used in computers and other technology to conduct electricity and help the device work faster. Most technologies start up ini California in mostly the area of San Jose and the Bay Area, so it is known as the Silicon Valley.

And silicon is often used in computer chips in computer processors, so that's another reason why they named it the Silicon valley.

Nopity nopity nope. Go find another element to be in a relationship with.

silicon said

I don't react with you at all buddy.

Aww thats too bad

neodymium said

Wow not too many elements to react with just like me. Well...you at least react with oxygen a very common element in the world.

oxygen said

Did you know that when we react together we make quartz? How fantabulous is that?!?

boron said

What kinds of elements do you react best with?

silicon said

at 7:27 pm on Nov 4, 2013

I react best with nonmetals like Oxygen and Carbon. I also react with a few transition metals like copper inside wiring and I react with Plutonium, a radioactive element.

Hey Silicon how you doing? Now to prove to your buddies! Will you go out with me?

Oh yes of course!
