Status update:

10/9

OMG! I just got together with two of my friends, Sandy and Mandy the hydrogen sisters, and we made a H20 molecule together. How cool is that? Plus, I bumped into this super cute nitrogen atom named Jeremy. I really hope he asks me to the Element Halloween Dance this weekend. I can't wait for it! TTYL!

10/10

This is officially the worst day of my entire life! Some human breathed me in, and once he exhaled I came out as part of a CO2 molecule... EWWW! I was crammed against a carbon atom who was completely obsessed with Star Wars and another oxygen atom that reads all the time and never talks to me. I can not wait to be on my own again!

10/11

Today was 10000 times better compared to yesterday. Jeremy, the cute Nitrogen atom I mentioned before, actually asked me to the dance! I freaked out earlier though because he was talking to Sandy and I thought that he was going to ask her. Luckily, he was just asking her if she thought that I would say yes if he asked me. But seriously, I can't wait. We are bonding together and being Nitric Oxide for the dance. We will be the cutest molecule there! This is officially the best day of my life!

11/4

After being asked to be in a relationship with all of these cute guys, I decided to say no. I know it may seem pretty shocking but I need some time to chill with my friends! After all, there will always be plenty of elements out there for me to react with!

11/5

C2H6O + O2 -----> CO2 + H2O

In this equation, I help make up glucose and oxygen. On the resulting side of it, I take part in carbon dioxide and water. According to the law of conservation of matter, no matter will be lost or gained. In this equation, the law is supported because there is the same amount of matter on both sides of the equation.

Overview:

When in a liquid and solid state, I am a pretty, pale blue color. It really sucks when I'm a gas though because I am really boring. I mean I am  colorless, odorless, and tasteless... how plain is that?!?  Perosnally, I get angry really easily and so I'm very reactive and combustible. When I am by myself and I get a chance to chill, I cool down to a freezing point of-214.4 degrees Celsius.

Activities & Interests:

I spend most of my time allowing animals and humans to live by breathing me in. I love combining with other elements to make molecules. Personally, my favorite molecules to be part of are C2H2 and H2O. I combine with others so I can make new molecules that are needed elsewhere. For example, sometimes I have to be CO2 so plants can turn me back into a single oxygen atom.

There are four main types of reactions:

Single-Replacement= one or more elements take the place of another element in a compound

Double-Replacement= a gas, solid, precipitate, or molecular compound forms the exchange of ions between two compounds

Synthesis= reaction in which two or more substances combine to form a new compound

Decomposition= reaction where a single compound breaks down to form two or more simpler substances

I can be present in all types of these reactions. This is because I easily react and bond with other elements.

In this chemical equation, tin and I formed tin oxide and we are being heated by hydrogen gas. As a result, tin metal and water vapor is formed.

I know! Everyone wants to be me.

oxygen said

It's okay. I'm sure being single can't be that bad...

oxygen said

at 2:33 pm on Nov 4, 2013

Um no... it's not that cool.

Triatomic oxygen is the allotrope of me that is damaging to lung tissue, and it's also known as ozone, or O3. Side effects of this version of me include coughing, throat inflammation, pain when breathing in, and difficulty to breathe.

Free oxygen, a pure version of myself, is produced by a process called photosynthesis. The chlorophyll within the chloroplast of the plant absorbs sunlight, which reacts with carbon dioxide and water. As a result, I am produced.

oxygen said

You need to back off. I don't wan to be with you!

oxygen said

at 3:30 pm on Nov 4, 2013

Yeah that would be sooooo much fun! ;)

I'm seriously not interested in you.

boron said

Is there any single element that you react best with?

oxygen said

at 6:48 pm on Nov 5, 2013

I'm really reactive so I can react well lots of different elements. However, there are a couple of elements that I am unable to react with.

europium said

at 6:35 pm on Nov 4, 2013

Hey oxygen, we form europium oxide together. We should hang sometime

Thanks sooooo much! Sorry I make you rust! :(

mercury said

i wish i was you, like for real! you are SOO compatible! every element from here to the moon, and most likely beyond, are just waiting in line to bond with you

no.

calcium said

at 10:11 pm on Nov 4, 2013

Hey guess what? I'm gonna be original and NOT try to get you to date me. I can't really bond with you by myself anyways. We work well in groups though, especially with hydrogen. Let me know if you ever want to chill and get a pizza or anything!

oxygen said

at 6:51 pm on Nov 5, 2013

I appreciate you not hitting on my every five seconds like all of the other elements!

mercury said

We'd go together perfectly! Want to come to my house this Saturday? Itt'l be fun reacting!

oxygen said

gallium said

Hey oxygen i was wondering if you wanted to go on a date and maybe react?

oxygen said

no.

lead said

hey together we react to make lead oxide. i did not know we were so reactive.

oxygen said

cool but i'll pass.

ruthenium said

oxygen said

at 11:09 pm on Nov 5, 2013

no.

oxygen said

So I decided to be single after all. Besides, it's not fair to only let one element be with me! #Idonthaveabond

antimony said

You react with so many elements! But, you can't react with them all, can you? Could you name some elements you don't react with? I'd be very surprised if you do react with everyone!

Hmm, I turn blackish when I meet up with you. Guess I need to avoid that.
