COmponent of vitamin B which without it, cells are COntaminated and need to make more cells which reproduce in 27 days, my atomic number.

Status update:

6/23 - Was in the meteorite headed for earth, but missed the planet by a liittttle bit. Could've landed and seen my friends and families underground. #dangit

7/4 - Celebrating the anniversay of the Declaration of Independence. Being proud of being used to sign the document. (:

9/10 - Please, don't mix me up with my twin, Cobalt (middle name blue). We're SO different. For example, he likes art & I like science. #howdoyougetmixedupbetweenus

9/30 - Hung out with da crew, superalloys and flew all the way to Paris. We were under so much pressure 'cause we were just about to crash. #phew #superalloyslego

10/31 - Thanks to my pilates class, I can now balance really well! I'm ready for more challenging balancing poses. Our class is great, but unfortunately no can join (or leave) anymore. We'll stay as a pack throughout the year!

11/4 - Everyone's already in a relationship except me. I have gone unnoticed, but it's okay; singles rule the world! To everyone out there - I am single and ready to mingle! -feeling jealous of hydrogen

Overview:

I am silver-blue and have high melting points. I am strong because I am hard-wearing even in high-temperature, but sometimes I am brittle. I don't reactive very much, but I can react with oxygen, water, and other acids only if I want to.

Relationship Status:

Single

Primary Relationship:

network:

metal

valence electrons:

2

reactivity: somewhat reactive
state of matter:  solid
Location on Periodic Table: Group 9, Period 4

Movies:

Avengers

Ender's Game (so excited for it!)

The True Story of Cob Alton.

Activities & Interests:

Love hanging out with my crew, the superalloys, sort of like the avengers. We bond really well together.

Ceramics, glassware, cosmetics, and pottery are some of my interests and I love being a part of them.

I also like being in space and speeding through really fast.

2Co(s) + O2(g) --> 2CoO(s) - me and steam

Co(s) + Br2(I) --> CoBr2(s) - me and bromine

Co(S) + Cl2(g) --> CoCl2(s) - me and chlorine

Co(s) + I2(s) --> CoI2(s) - me and iodine

All of these reactions are synthesis reactions.

Places:

6/23 - Checked in at the meteorite headed for earth.

7/10 - Checked in at an underground ore to visit my family and friends.

9/30 - Checked in at the airport for my Elemair airplane flight.

10/2 - Checked in at the gala to see my twin stuck on a painting.

10/29 - Checked in at [Co(H2O)6]2+ +2OH- --> [Co(H2O)4(OH)2] + 2H2O It's just hexaaqua-me(II) ions reacting with hydroxide ions

Don't I look fancy here.

Can you see me in this pink Vitamin B12 pill? I'm pretty important in it.

The isotope cobalt-60 is a strong source of what types of rays?

cobalt said

at 10:09 am on Oct 29, 2013

The isotope cobalt-60 is used in gamma rays which kills bacteria and pathogens without harming the product. Cobalt-60 is also used for radiology similar to x-rays. It can be used in medical treatments for damaged blood vessels and brain tumors, but it can also be used in metals and housings.

Adding Cobalt salts to glass creates what vivid color?

cobalt said

at 11:12 pm on Oct 29, 2013

Adding Cobalt salts to glass creates a deep but cool blue color. When an cobalt ion reacts with others such as water and chlorine, the color can change to pink, magenta, and deep blue.

Did you know that you might end up replacing platinum? Scientists found way by using electrolysis o.o Platinum better watch out...

O.o. You and me replacing an element! How lovely ~
