Status update:

I am so excited to announce that Beryllium Hydroxide added with Sulfuric acid makes Beryllium Sulfate and water!!!

Sulfuric acid + Beryllium Hydroxide → Berylium Sulfate + 2 Water

H2SO4 + Be(OH)2 → Be SO4 + 2H2O

10/29/13

Yay. FINALLY. I have been waiting for this moment! Yttrium and I are in a covalent bond relationship!

OMG!! IM FLYING!!! AIRCRAFTS ARE MY LIFE.

10/7

Uh oh.. apparently I am in a nuclear weapon.. Why am I so cruel to innocent people?

10/6

WHY ARE PEOPLE SO CARELESS ON THE ROAD? CARS ARE RUNNING OVER ME 24/7!

Overview:

I am the lightest Alkaline Earth Metal shown as Be on the periodic table of elements. I am steel gray at room temperature, and I have the highest melting point out of the other elements in my group. I am relatively rare to find in the Earth's crust and the universe, and I can be found as foils, lumps, and powders. I react the most with water. All of my compounds are covalent, and I am very similar to aluminum(Al).

Activities & Interests:

I have a special ability to scratch glass. Although I am not interested in helping plants, I am a chemical component for rocks and minerals. I love combining to  make my natural compound, emerald.

I enjoy bonding with nonmetals; I am a part of covalent bonds. There are four types of reactions: synthesis, decomposition, single-displacement, and double-displacement.  A synthesis reaction is when two substances combine to form one new substance. Decomposition is when a substance breaks down to form two or more simpler substances. A single displacement reaction is when a element takes the place of another element is a certain compound. The last type of reaction is a double displacement reaction, where two compounds exchange the elements with one another. For example, BeCl2 + 2AgNO3 --> Be(NO3)2 + 2AgCl is a double replacement reaction.

Beryllium chloride reacts with silver nitrate to form aqueous beryllium nitrate and silver chloride(powder).

balanced chemical equation: BeCl2 + 2AgNO3 --> Be(NO3)2 + 2AgCl

I am at Muzo, Colombia, which is where the most emerald(my compound) is found!

Aiya.. I'm at Shanghai, China, and I see a lot of driods here (China had the most Beryllium)!

Wow, I'm at Savannah, and some hospitals seem to have more x-ray viewers than others!
